We happily started our journey on 25th December 2011. All scouts and guides gathered at central railway station near Higgin Bothoms library. Then we seated on our respective seats in Nilagiri Express train along with our Scout master Mrs.Kumaravel sir and our Guide captain Mrs. R.Christy madam. The train started at 9:00 pm from Central railway station. We had chat with all the members in our coach and had our dinner around 10:00pm. Then we went to sleep.

 The train reached Coimbatore railway station at 4:05am. From there we went to our camp site by bus around 7:00 am. On the camp site, our district secretary Mr.Parthibarajan sir gave us some instructions about the camp and we had our breakfast. Around 10:00 am we were registered and allotted for our rooms. We had our lunch by 1:00pm. Then we were separated into patrols and troops that gave us team spirit. At 3:00pm the function was inaugurated by chief guest Coonoor Chairman and our camp director and had our tea by 4:50pm. Then we were allowed to prepare for camp fire program from 5:10pm to 7:70pm. After the camp fire preparation we had our supper. Around 8:30pm Camp fire program was started, all the patrols did their performance. On behalf of our ‘Tiger patrol’ we did a scout skit. Overall the main attraction was Bull patrol’s dance performance. The camp fire came to its conclusion by 9:20pm and we were given hot badam milk. At 9:40pm we went to sleep. Our first day of camping was joyful and more informative, we learned a lot about team spirit. There were a lot of dreams about the next day’s scout events running in everyone’s mind.

Early morning we woke up at 5:30 am. At 6:00am we did our physical jerk with the guidance of our scout master Mr. Kumaravel sir. We prepared for our kit inspection by 6:30 am. The kit inspection was conducted by our assistant scout master Mr. Solomon at 7:00 am. Eagle patrol performed well in the kit preparation. The flag ceremony was held at 7:30am and by 8:30am we had our breakfast. After breakfast we had orderly movement gave by our camp scout master. By 9:55am we had our first aid session which was lead by assistant guide captain Mrs.N.S.Alamelu madam. We had our tea break around 11:15 am. Till 12.30pm we took rest and then we had our lunch. As per the guidance by our District Secretary sir we prepared for our Patrol forum till 2:00 pm. By 2:15 pm the Patrol forum was started and lead by assistant scout master Mr. Karthick sir and assistant guide captain Mrs.N.SAlamelu madam. Among 10 patrols only 4 patrols were able to perform due to shortage of time. Then we gathered together for a tea break with snacks at 4:15pm. After the tea we started to prepare for camp fire. Sharply at 6:00 pm, flag down was done by that day’s duty leader M. Pradeep Babu. We had dinner by 7:30 pm. The camp fire started by 8:30pm. And today’s comparer was E.Mukilan. The comparing was fully in pure Tamil.  It was different and very nice too. After camp fire we all had badam milk and went back to sleep. In Day 2 I learned about first aid and had interactions with other school scouts.

As usual we got up at 5:30 am; it was hard at first and came to practice later on. The physical jerk and BP’s six exercise was from 6:00am to 6:30am. Then we started to prepare for Kit inspection. The Kit inspection was held by Mr.Salamon sir at 7:10 am. In this day our Tiger Patrol performed well with neat and tidy. The flag ceremony was started at 7:30am. After flag ceremony we went for having breakfast by 8:00 am. By 9:00am orderly movement session was held by our camp scout master Mr.Kumaravel sir. Then we practiced our Patrol song and Patrol cry which was lead by Mr.Kalaiselvan sir and Mr.Karthick sir. By 10:30 am the patrol leaders started to write our COH for our hike. By 11:10am we started our hike which was lead by Mr.Parthibarajan sir. We had our hike to Santhosh Tea factory. On the way to the tea factory we went through narrow paths between tea estates plantation. Mr.Govindarajan explained how tea plants were cultivated and how the tea powder was extracted from the tea leaves. Before his explaination, on our way to tea factory we were able to identify how the tea cultivation was performed. Then we started our return hiking to our camp site and reached the camp site by 12:00pm. Then we started to prepare the hike report patrol wise in the camp. By 12:45 we had our lunch and then as per the instruction given by Mr.Parthiban sir, we begun to put gadgets. Along with our Tiger patrol, two guides were accompanied.  They also created the gadgets with us and it was good. The photo session was held with our gadgets in close. By 4:30pm the game session was started and it is lead by Mr. Kalaiselvan sir. Sharply at 6:00pm color parties downed the flag. Then we started to prepare for camp fire. We had our dinner by 7:30 pm. The camp fire was held at 8:30 pm and we went to sleep by 10:00pm after having badam milk. On this day we learned a lot during our hiking and it was enjoyable.

As usual we woke up at 5:30 am. We had physical jerk and BP’s six exercise from 6:00 am to 6:30 am. We prepared for kit inspection and the inspection was held at 7:15 am. The flag ceremony was held at 7:45 am. Then we had our breakfast by 8:30 am. We prepared our things  for outing to doddabetta. Scout organizers pack lunch for us in separate packs.  Along with lunch, they also gave chocolate, lays and biscuits. We started our journey in a private bus from camp site and reached doddabetta by 10:30 am. We saw many views and had our photo sessions. Then we reached a botanical garden and enjoyed its beauty. That was really amazing and in that breezing and natural surroundings we finished our lunch by 2:00 pm. Then few of our friends started to roam around to enjoy the beauty of botanical gardens. We started from there at 3:30 pm and we reached a theme park by 4:00 pm. There were a lot of platform shops and we started to look around. Inside the theme park we just saw the boat house, everyone was very eager to go for boating. But we were not allowed to go there. To recover from that missing situation, we were taken to a mini train. And we enjoyed to our extent. Then the theme park lead us to Dashing cars. We dashed each and every corner and every cars in that race course. It was full of fun and thrill. As we all requested, we were taken to 3D show in a 3D theatre in theme park. Everyone screamed and enjoyed very well. Our unformgotable experience was dora dora. It was very thrilling and we never expected such a joyful experience here. We started from there with all our hearts left over in theme park at 5:30 pm. We reached our camp site at 7:10 pm. After having our dinner we prepared for next day’s grand camp fire. Then Mr.Parthiban sir gave instruction about next day’s plans. We went to sleep with hearts full of dreams and body full of tiredness.

As usual we woke up at 5:30 am. We had physical jerk and BP’s six exercise from 6:00 am to 6:30 am. We prepared for kit inspection and the inspection was held at 7:15 am. The flag ceremony was held at 7:45 am. Then we had our breakfast by 8:30 am. Then we had orderly session from 9:00 am to 9:30 am. Then a session on Leadership and management was conducted by Mr.Parthibarajan sir. It was very useful and interesting. I’m sure that, we will use his instructions in our personal life also. Then we had tea break at 11:00 am. As the chief guest is coming today, we started to clean our tents and prepared our gadgets. The chief guest arrived after our lunch by 2:45 pm. He was astonished with our gadgets and with our neat & tidy tents. He was speechless and praised us. The valedictory function was held at 3:00 pm. We had our tea with snack and our chats at 4:30 pm. We started to prepare for the grand camp fire, and sharply at 6:00 pm the scout flag was downed. Then, the grand camp fire which everyone was eagerly waiting was started at 6:00 pm. In this Grand camp fire I compared the function. It gives me great pride and pleasure to present myself in front of all the scouts and guides. All the patrols showed their hard work and performed their best. All the scouts and guides brought a great honor to our district and especially the mixed dance by Guides attracted every one and made everyone to clap their hands without their knowledge. With all the tired in bodies and happiness in everyone’s heart we had our Great meal which was presented by our honorable chief guest. Then we went to sleep.

All our happiness and plans came upside down. Oh my God. It is raining outside. All our hearts filled with greater feel. As there is an old saying, in all deeds there is good deed, we 4 service scouts woke up at 6:00am putting away all our tired and laziness, and prepared hot water for the scouts to bath and drink. Other scouts got up at 7:00 am. We packed all our tents and returned all the blankets to the respective offices. Then we started to pack our personal belongings and making our self ready to leave our lovely and memorable camp site. We dropped all our scouts’ belongings into our bus through a jeep from camp site. Then our journey started from there to Coimbatore railway station. While coming to railway station our bus struck in a traffic jam and which made us to rush for the train. We sang scout songs in train which made other passengers to turn their heads towards us and they praised us too. Sharply at 12:00 am to celebrate New Year we shouted aloud and wished all the passengers a happy new year. And we made a human train inside the train and we shouted and enjoyed the New Year eve. Then we came back to sleep. We woke up at 4:30 am in Chennai Central Railway station and departed with tears in hearts.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Camp chief Mr. Mahaveer sir, Mr.Parthibarajan sir, Mr. Kumaravel sir, Mr. Sundarama Moorthy sir. Mr. Ashok kumar sir, Mr. Kalaiselvan sir, Mr. Karhick sir, Mr. Salamon sir and all guide captains, all the scouts and guides who made this trip an enjoyable and memorable days in my life.
